The Project:
I recently moved to Lansing, Michigan, and was excited to book my first branding client. Andrew, the owner of Slug Money Studios, wanted a logo that had a medieval vibe and a blacksmith feel. SMS is a 3D printing business that specializes in bringing props from video games and TV shows to life— perfect, because I just finished watching Game of Thrones. He also wanted a slug incorporated in the logo, of course!
The Process:
This logo was definitely going to be niche and custom, so I started with hand-drawn sketches. Then, we moved into Adobe Illustrator to vectorize the logo options. I made sure to add tons of distressing and weathering to the logos to add to the “blacksmith” aesthetic, making the logo look worn and old. Andrew was so happy with the outcome that we decided to deliver multiple logo variants for a multitude of different use cases, like packaging or stickers.
